Full Itinerary

This tour of the town on the edge of the world combines nature walk, cultural heritage sites and city exploring. Together we will experience the hidden gems in Tórshavn. You will have plenty of opportunities to take Instagram-worthy pictures and ask any questions you might have.

Your local guide is a genuine Tórshavner excited to share their knowledge of Faroese society, culture and local stories that you won’t find in any guidebook! Our tours are for small groups only which gives your guide plenty of time to answer any questions you may have.

The tour commences outside the national museum, takes us through the nature pearl of Hoyvík, along dramatic coastline, past the iconic Nordic House to the National Art Gallery, where we enjoy a light meal before continuing our exploration of Tórshavn.

Reaching the City Centre, we stroll through the narrow, twisted streets and alleys of the old city. We take unexpected turns through neighbourhoods with old, turfed timber houses that ooze of intimacy, perseverance and ingenuity, as you experience the charm of the old-world and green refuges of calm amongst the urban sprawls of modern-day life.

Learn of the swift transformation from peasant to modern society made possible by learning to exploit the opportunities of the rich fishing grounds in the North Atlantic. Omnipresent, the sea is still the basis of today’s modern society.

Another significant feature is the welfare system aligned with the Nordic Welfare Model. The model, emphasizing a minimum level of equality as well as society-wide risk-sharing and a social safety net, has earned the Faroese the title as some of the happiest people in the world, in line with the other Nordic countries.

So put on your best walking shoes, bring your camera, and get ready for a Faroese adventure! Don’t forget to ask your guide for tips on what else to see, do, and eat in our awesome city.
